On Tuesday, September 30th, we observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to pause and reflect. We acknowledge the ongoing journey of healing for communities, where we remember that we are all created in God's image and every person matters. We must learn from the past and humbly commit to a better path forward, one where we remember to treat everyone with the kindness and respect that is essential for true reconciliation.

In September, our Lakeland Catholic schools spent time reflecting on the Catholic Social Teaching of Human Dignity—reminding us that every person is created in God’s image and deserves respect, care, and compassion.
As October begins, our focus turns to The Common Good. This teaching calls us to look beyond ourselves and work together so that every person has the chance to thrive.

Today, students at École Notre Dame Elementary, École Dr. Brosseau Middle School, and École Notre Dame High School held their first fire drills of the year. These practices ensure that, in an emergency, every student knows where to go and what to do.

Fire drills take only a few minutes and play an important role in supporting student safety and preparedness in our schools.

GrACE — Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education — is dedicated to strengthening Catholic education and celebrating the gift it brings to our communities. This month, Lakeland Catholic is recognized as a GrACE Champion, highlighting how students and staff are embracing their faith in meaningful ways.

From retreats and IGNITE faith groups to social justice campaigns, Catholic Social Teaching, and prayer initiatives, faith is being lived out each day. Inspired by the call to “do small things with great love,” we are opening hearts, minds, and doors through Christ our Model, and Children our Focus.

Sunday Gospel - Today is the parable of the shrewd manager, wherein Jesus tells us, "Use what you have for God's kingdom". We cannot serve both God and wealth. We are to use what we are given not for personal gain, but to prepare for a future with God in His Kingdom.

Aujourd'hui, c'est la parabole du gérant habile, où Jésus nous dit : « Utilisez ce que vous avez pour le Royaume de Dieu ». On ne peut pas servir Dieu et la richesse en même temps. Nous devons utiliser ce qui nous est donné, non pas pour notre gain personnel, mais pour préparer notre avenir avec Dieu dans son Royaume.

This morning in Bonnyville, joined by Trustee MacDonald, Paroisse St. Louis Parish welcomed the staff of École Notre Dame Elementary School! Fr. Rene reminded us to use our talents faithfully in all the small things that we do!

École Notre Dame Elementary students went on a pilgrimage from their school to St. Louis Church today to attend Mass in celebration of the opening of their school year! Many students participated in the Mass ministries and all praised Jesus with beautiful songs. Fr. Rene reminded them that even at their young age, they can make the world better by doing small things with great love!

École Notre Dame Elementary School has been awarded a national MusiCounts grant! 🎶
Only 85 schools across Canada were selected, and this recognition will bring new instruments and resources to strengthen music education for ÉNDE students!

✅ Enter school code 94514 and click Next, followed by Confirm
✅ Complete the User Profile box
✅ Under My Students, click Add. Enter your child’s last name and student ID number (found on your child’s most recent report card or in SchoolEngage)

Sunday Gospel - Today's gospel speaks of Jesus who has descended from heaven and has been lifted up. That God gave us His only so that we may have eternal life. What does that mean...that all who believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life. To have faith and believe, we shall all be saved.

Évangile du dimanche - L'Évangile d'aujourd'hui parle de Jésus qui est descendu du ciel et qui a été élevé. Dieu nous a donné son Fils unique afin que nous ayons la vie éternelle. Yesterday, Father Rene visited École Notre Dame Elementary to bless the prayer tables, the school, and the students. The staff and students are grateful for his prayers and presence.
