Dear Parents, We began the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday (Feb 14), During the season of Lent, we are called to participate in prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Almsgiving is the act of giving charity to another. As a school, we are going to practice almsgiving with a project to support the Stepping Stones Crisis Society (formerly the Dr. Margaret Savage Crisis Centre). This facility is an emergency shelter that provides a safe and secure shelter dedicated to assisting women and their children in need of short-term emergency accommodations in Cold Lake. Many of the families come to the shelter with very few belongings and we would like to provide the children with items that they may have had to leave behind when they left their homes. We will be asking families to send in different gently used items throughout the month of March that will be donated to Stepping Stones and to help the students understand the importance of almsgiving and acts of charity. Here are the items we will be collecting each week: March 4-8-gently used toys March 11-15- used books March 18-22-gently used puzzles/games Thank you in advance for helping us to support those in need.

Mrs. MacNiven's Kinders had a very busy February! They learned about Groundhog Day and celebrated Valentine's Day with an exchange and cookie decorating. They learned about Shrove Tuesday and enjoyed some pancakes together before the break. And finally, they ended the month by celebrating 100 days of Kindergarten.
